Pieces and installations
Since 1995 Katja creates video works which first of all are conceived independantly of her stage works and regarded as experimental short films.
With 'STREAMLINE, NEW WORLD' (Stromlinie, Neue Welt) she starts in 1996 to integrate her video work into her performance pieces. First mainly for her colleagues, then more and more for her own work she develops videos that play different roles in the performances, from a stage design to a commentator to a sort of co-performer even. Then in 'We About Us' (1998), to pick out one, she develops a spatial installation by piling up eight monitors on one wall displaying 10-minutes self-portraits of eight different people of her collective. Each monitor showed the same 40 mins.-film, with a 5-minute time delay creating a simultaneous presence of all eight entering a triangular dialogue through the spectator's eye.
With BlackMirrorSolo she creates in 2007 a video piece that tends towards the genre of an art installation which can be read in that visual arts context.
